As part of the Advanced Capacity Building of Women Leaders the Sahyog Samaj Kendra, Chowk CCO organized a training program for 30 women leaders on the 27th October, 2015.
The women were given insights into Women's Property Rights and Disputes. The resource person Advocate Sandeep Dhoble spoke on how the women could obtain land documents like the 7/12 extract (utara) and all the rules and regulations concerning it.
He also shared on the importance of writing a 'Living Will'. (Mrutyapatra) in order to reduce family tensions related to property. He explained to the women about their rights to property from her husband and also from her own maternal family. He cited various examples how this could be worked out legally without difficulties to the families involved.
The women felt enlightened and empowered on understanding the implications of these legal provisions and of course property gives them a sense of ownership and being part of the family.
