Balsansad Children from Gorai CCO celebrate Christmas 30-12-15

Christmas is a time when all children want to come together for a little celebration. The Balsansads in Gorai under the leadership of the Gorai CCO decided to surprise the children with a celebration but with a difference. 

On the 30th December, 2015, the Gorai CCO gathered together 40 children from the Bal Sansads and celebrated Christmas. The program started with a short prayer conducted by Mrs. Natal, thereafter she divided the children into four groups, giving them names of 4 gospel writer after which she introduced the Gospel Authors to each group who were given the responsibility of singing two Christmas Carol Songs. All the four groups participated enthusiastically.

Sr. Christel the shared with the children a Christmas message through story which was based on values of life like, truthfulness love, forgiveness and concern. She then showed them how the story is linked and also applicable to their daily lives.

The CCO Staff and volunteers then distributed snacks to the children and each child received a Christmas Gift. Fr. Sandeep conducted a few action songs and engaged the children in song and dance which they enjoyed and participated actively. The program ended with a thanks giving by the children and also Ms. Nasim Kasughar.

Christmas Get-together for Women & Children at Manori CCO

Enjoying Christmas get-together with Balsansad children& shg’s women

Participants- total 34 participants

Savdhan Social Centre, Manori CCO staff Ms Suvarna and Ms Snehal has organised Christmas get-together program for Balsansad children & SHG’s women. The program began with prayer by Mrs. Magha Goraiker and said welcome to all by Mrs. Monica Padu. The Balsansad girls performed eight dances which were prepared by them.  

Fr. Michael gave the Christmas message. Fr said that the real Christmas message is to love. We always give love to our family members and are neighbourhood. Ms Rasika led the comparing of entire program. 

After the dance performance CCO staff has conducted musical chair, cross in the river & jam session for the participants. The program ended with snacks distribution and vote of thanks given by Ms. Rena Goraiker.

Self Enhancement of Kishoris at Gorai - 20th Dec, 2015

Topic: Self Enhancement

Total Kishoris: 33

Resource Person: Sr. Christel Tuscano

The session began with a short prayer conducted by Ms. Natal, then Sr. Christel asked the question what is self Enhancement to a few Kishoris who replied saying that, Self Enhancement means information about personality development, self-identity etc.

The resource person then stressed on self-worth, self-image, self-confidence, how one can prevent oneself from inferiority complex. She showed a few video clippings of people with positive attitudes in life. Then citing a few examples she mentioned how one could build one’s life successfully. 

In a similar way she went on in the next session on the need for Self Defence. Giving information about self-defence, she used two case studies of one girl & women which can be a source of motivation to defend oneself.


After  the session, 5 girls came to meet Sr. Christel and shared with her the problems that they faced. Sr. Christle counselled them and arranged for a meeting with the family to mediate and resolve their family problem. The girls were empowered to speak and were happy that the problem was resolved.

Ms. Nasim concluded the program with a vote of thanks proposed to the resource person - Sr. Christle.

Exposure Visit at Gorai Police Station with Manori Bal Sansad Children

EXPOSURE VISIT AT GORAI POLICE STATION WITH MANORI BALSANSAD CHILDREN

Savdhan Social Centre, Manori CCO staff Ms Suvarna and Ms Snehal has organised exposure visit for Balsansad children. Children were interacted with Mr. Mane who is police inspector; he has provided the information to children. Children were also curious about to know the role and functions of police. 

A child has asked question to Mr Mane, how would you found us when we lost? The Mr. Mane has replied to child should keep contact, address of your family members with you. He also added that, police is the protector of all citizens so does not get frightened from them.

Building Community Awareness of Hygiene through Street Plays - 15-12-15

Stakeholders: 30 Students from Nirmala Memorial Foundation (Kandivali, Mumbai)

Suryodaya Samaj Kendra.had organized an awareness building exercise with the community in collaboration with Nirmala Memorial Foundation College Students from Kandivali Mumbai. The street play was an enacted on the topic of "Cleanliness". The objective being that people should have an awareness on keeping their surrounding clean, thereby they will be prevented from various kinds of diseases. 

After the street play there was an active discussion between the students and the people regarding how each one can take responsibility to keep their surrounding clean. This street play was conducted at two different locations in Gorai. After the performances, the students were thanks for their enlightening performance which left the community with some important questions to answer.

Financial Literacy for Women at Pali - 5-12-15

On the 5th December, during the monthly meeting of Rozana Miskita SHG, 

Ms. Sheetal Palande, CSA Thane Dt. Coordinator led the group through a complete understanding of Savings, Budgeting and Financial Planning as she covered the 3 modules of financial Literacy. 

A total of 9 out of 12 women were present.

Financial Literacy for Fisherfolks at Manori - 5-12-15

Mobilizing the fisherfolk men for a Financial Literacy Program was a challenge, nevertheless an active group of 20 Fishermen gathered together in the Parish Hall for a complete session that covered all the three modules on the 5th December, 2015. 




The resource person, Ms. Rasika Bhandari from CSA led the group to understand the need for savings. 

Through an interactive session on calculating their spendings for a month they realized the importance of saving and budgeting for the month. They were also led to understand how they can develop a financial plan for the future. 


It was a great learning experience for the Manori CCO staff and also for the men who humbly learnt this important aspect of their life that needed to be strengthened.

Livelihood Training - Bakery Course at Dongri CCO - 4th Dec, 2015


As part of the Livelihood Capacity Building for Women, the Dongri  CCO organised a baking class for women who have been linked to SHGs in the Project. 

On the 4th December, an enthusiastic group of  16 women were present and they were introduced to the concepts by Mr. Vency Dabre the resource person. 

He led them through an active complete practical demonstrations along with the active participation of women. 



Mr. Vency has covered following topics:
- What is IGP and various types and opinions available. 
- Marketing strategy and market risk factors 
- Packaging,  labeling and services to the customer it's importance in IGP 
- Government facilities and loans available running for IGP 
- Importance of team work in IGP  etc.

The women kept asking questions and personally learnt the complete process with various baking products like cookies and cakes too. 

The photographs taken reveal the participation and enthusiasm of the group in the whole session which lasted for over three hours.

Savdhan Social Centre CCO staff Ms Suvarna and Ms Snehal has organised theme based activity for Balsansad children. Children were made various show piece craft and articles by using empty match box, gift wrappers and old tea cups. 

All the children were made beautiful gift items which they want to display in their showcase and to give their friends.

Property Rights & Family Disputes - Women Adv. Trg. 3rd Dec, 2015

Topic: Property Rights & Family Disputes

The session began with a short prayer conducted by Sr. Christel. Thereafter Ms. Nasim introduced Fr. Ajit to the participants. He began saying that  currently all of families face the problem of property disputes, practically every family is undergoes a lot of conflict & stress due to property issues. He then went on to illustrate the contents of the topic through a PPT Presentation. 

He showed the participants the necessary information and knowledge one needs to know with regards to Property. Focussing on the important documents required to ensure our Property rights. He asked them questions on the required documents. Few women said that it was necessary to have a document called 7/12 extract. He then went on to explain in detail about this document and its importance and the procedure to obtain the same from the Talathi office. He also explain about "Sanad" - a property card which can be otained from the collector in the urban areas. 
 
There were many related questions posed by the women concerning property especially property which was in the name of the husband or in-laws. He continued his discussion through questions and answers and empasised that we need to as far as possible to settle our property issues in the family, we should avoid going to the court as once a person files a case then there seems to be no end to it resulting in separation of many families with their relatives. 


The women expressed their gratitude spontaneous to him as it was quite topical and related to their problems faced in the family. After a few words of thanks and an evaluation, the session ended.

Family Life Education for Kishoris at Pali, 1st Dec, 2015

On the 1st of December 2015, Sahajeevan Social Centre, Pali organized an advanced training for Kishori Girls on the topic of Marriage Life and Family Education. The Resource Person was Ms. Trupti. 

A total of 29 Kishori Girls actively participated in the training and learnt some basics of Family Life. They had many questions to ask and their queries were answered as this was the forum where they felt at ease in asking questions that were considered taboo to talk about in their families.
