Communal Harmony program at Dongri
 On 26th of January 2017 the Republic day we had the communal harmony program at Dongri. There  were total 150 people from 3 different religions like Hindu, Christians and Muslims participated in the program.  There was the good response from all the three religions. The program began with prayer followed by lightening of the lamp. We had the dignitaries called on the dais Fr. Francis Correa, Fr. Peter D’chuna, Mr. Vidyadhar, Mr. Dayanand and Mr. John.   Each one of the beautifully spoke about what exactly religion is. We also had the skirt by our Balsansad children based on the topic.  The Core Committee played an important role by taking the different responsibilities.
It was heart-warming to see the different religion people coming together.

                                  Haldi Kumkum Program at Manori

On 20th January 2017 Savdhaan Samaj Kendra had Haldi Kumkum program for women at Karja Devi Mandir, Manori. Nearly 40 women were present. It was first introductory program have organized for all religious women. The program objective was to increase the people participation from other communities.Ms Suvarna & Ms. Snehal had explained the CCO’s work. 
Ms Rasika Bhandari talks on importance of Haldi Kumkum in women’s life.
The core committee also took active part in the program.  The core committee members had put Kumkum on women’s head (Every marriage lady) which is depicted the meaning of ‘Swaibhgyache Lane’ in Hindu Culture & greets each other. The program ended with snacks distribution & vote of thanks.



                                                                                                                   



     


The core committee members of Dongri parish have put up the Bus time table at two Bus stands in Dongri. This is to know the passengers about the but timings and the frequency of the buses

  
Session for the Domestic Workers at Dongri

On 22nd of January 2017 had the 3rd session on “Etiquette and Manners – Communication Skills and Relationship with Family and guests”. There were total 12 members present for the session. Ms. D’mello was the resource person for the session. She spoke well based on topic. She explained to them the communication skills and how that is useful in their work. She also explained how to Communicate at our work place. 


She also spoke so much on relationship, how relationship should be and where we should maintain distance. In short a healthy relationship. She also mentioned the important thing of having written contract in which clearly it should mention about the type of work, the period of work and the salary and it should be signed by both.Women were very much positive and agreed to whatever the resource person said. They fond it useful in their work place and asked the questions related to this.

Personality Development session for Domestic Worker at Manori

The Resourse person mainly spoke on developing the self-trust & value of honesty in their work place. She made it very interesting by group activities like skit, open discussion. She also suggested them to call them not as domestic worker which make them feel low but home manager. She interacted with women and gave the tips related to their work on how to be confident, importance of communication, value of honesty, understanding the physical capacity of work, flexibility in work, maintain the relationship in the family.


Core Committee Meeting At Zone Level in Manori


On 11th January 2017 Savdhaan Samaj Kendra, Manori organised core committee meeting at St John zone. Total 7 members were present from St Andrew & St John Zone. In the meeting had discussion on open sewage creates trouble for local people so it’s also affected the people health. Also one of the member has focused on at St Andrew zone there is increasing the fear about road accidents. So members decided that related to both issues they will take follow up from concerned department through filling application, creating awareness , group meetings etc. 

TOT first session at Pali




On 11th January 2017 Sahjeevan Samaj Kendra, Pali had TOT first module for SHG’s women. Total 14 were present. Sr Joanna & Ms carol were resource person. It was interactive session. Members understood the meaning of self-help & own independent. We can help our self through collective action & be successful.

Session with Core Committee members at Uttan
We had the 4th session on Community Mobilization skills and Advocacy Campaign skills for core committee members on 10th January 2017 at Uttan. There were total 18 Members present for the meeting. Mrs. Dinu Mathew was the resource person. She made the session more interested by so much of interaction PPT and group work. There was good participation from the Core Committee members.
 She mainly spoke on forming the groups then have the planning, Begin from oneself, Change the wrong mind set of the people, Sustainability of the work. As a group activity she asked the members to list out the numbers of different groups that exist in their villages  
like Politicians, NGO, Women’s groups, Men’s groups, clubs, Societies, prayer groups, Cooperation and how we can mobilize them. Then she asked them to take the group which they feel can work with them.

The session increased the interest of the members and the zeal to work on the issues. There was the immediate outcome of the session that is some said that tomorrow itself will have meeting with women’s group who daily come together for prayer. Soon after the session we had the village wise plan of what is the next.

Mapping test of the students for the English Literacy program at Uttan
We had the initial test on 23rd of Nov. 16 in St. Joseph Marathi medium School. There were total 4 teachers, CSA and CCO. We had the test with 48 children. It was shocking to know that being from 6th and 7th STD students they do not know even the ABCD…… Since we could not complete with all the students we continued the test on 25th of Nov. and had the test with 66 children. So Total 114 children's mapping test is done. 



Inaugural of English Literacy program at Uttan.
On 2nd January 2017 we had the inaugural of English Literacy program in Uttan. There were total 20 children who attended the program and will continue 
the classes.  Mr. Dayanand the DI coordinator, Sr. Martha CSA staff, Mr. Marie (Teacher of students) and Uttan CCO staff. Mr. Dayanand congratulated the children for being part of it and encouraged them to move forward. He also explained to them the importance of this class and how it is going to help them in future.

Student looked very happy and interested and assured to be regular for the class and will inform the others too.
Then we asked Ms. Marie to continue with the class. Later some of the parents of the students also joined we also told them to take interest in children’s education and help them to grow. 




Financial Empowerment Program at Uttan

         



        On 6th January 2017 as the process of FEP we have got total 13  women for this. We have finished with 3 sessions and now we have opened the new account of those who did not have bank account and those who already have their bank account we opened their RD account in their respective banks. We are getting good response from the women. They are realizing the importance of it and showing so much of interest.

Session on Child rights and Child abuse for the Balsansad children of Mothagoan Uttan:

On 5th January 2017 we had the session for Balsansad children of Mothagoan on Child rights and Child Abuse. There were total 15 children who participated in it. Sr. Martha was the Resource person for the program.  She started with Child rights which already have been done with children so were able to answer the questions asked to them related Child rights. Then she came to the topic Child Abuse. She explained to them what child abuse is then continued with types of Child abuse, consequences of Child abuse and who does it. She also explained to children how they can take care and avoid going to secular places and remaining alone. Sr. Martha made it more interested and easy to understand by showing them some of the photos related to this which helped children to understand better and to remember. At the end of the session children gave the review of the session which showed that they understood well. Children were happy with the session and showed interest in learning and knowing something different and important. 



Communal Harmony program at Uttan

On 7th Dec. 2016 had the communal Harmony program in Uttan.  There were total 47 participants from 3 different religions like Christian, Hindu and Muslim.  The purpose behind this program to come together in unity and peace.  The planning and the arrangements of the program were done by Core Committee members with the help of CCO staff. The members of three religions were involved in program. The program began with common prayer followed with welcome dance then the introduction of the program consist of the purpose of program and the introduction of the members and the work that is being carried by CCO in brief . The youth presented skirt which gave message to all the religion also the dances. The program went on well. No feelings were hurt of anyone by anybody. 





Core Committee meeting with Fr. Peter (The director of Prerna Seva Kendra) Dongri

On 22nd December 2016 the members of Core Committee of Dongri had the meeting with Fr. Peter D’chuna the director of Prerna Seva Kendra. The purpose behind this meeting to explain fr. about the work that has been carried by the core committee members and the need of more members to the group.  During the discussion Fr. Suggested to village wise committee where we can ask them to join the group as their village representative which will help us to have the members to the group as whole.


Fr. Also asked the members to have the meeting at Palkhadi On first Thursday of the month where the people gather for the mass so after it will can have meeting with them and discuss about it. In Tarodi we can have the meeting with Gavaki group and will take the members from it. The same will do in Dongri. Through this we can get more members to the core committee and can work effectively. 



Second session on Personality Development for the Domestic Workers at Dongri

On Date 11th December 2016 we had the second session for the Domestic workers on Personality Development By Ms. Shilpa K. There were 16 women present for the meeting. The resource person mainly spoke on developing self confidence in doing the things at their work place. She made it very interesting by group activities like action songs and games based on the topic which helped the women to understand the topic well. She also suggested them to call them not as Domestic workers which make them feel low but Home Manager.





Through this session the women learnt to develop personality and how they can be more effective in a better way in their work place. They also realised that the work that they do it is not the cheap work but has the equal importance like the other works.

The women also decided that through this group they work together toward the injustice done towards them and will stand for one another.
