Core Committee Meeting at Manori on 29/8/16

Core committee meeting was held on 29th Aug 2016 in Manori church hall at 11:15 am. 12  members were present. The   meeting was conducted by Mr. Dayanand patil..  Mr.  Dayanand patil explained the  third year project plan.




 Core committee used the training cum mentoring workshop to prioritize issues namely Health, Alcohol Addiction and Lack of higher education.
The members were then divided in to three groups i.e. Subcommittee . An issue was then assigned to the subcommittee. Mr. Dayanand patil explained role and responsibility of each group member.

After the meeting the members planned the  date and time of the next meeting.

Balsansad interactive seminar on 25th August 2016 at Gorai

On 25th Aug2016 at Gorai a meeting of 53 children and 6 tuition teachers was held. 
The resource persons were the CCO Staff.

Meeting began with short prayer led by Mrs. Natal. Ms. Nasim introduced the  teachers to the children. Sr. Christel chaired the session. She began by asking the children the meaning of Balsansad its activities and their learnings. The children shared that balsansad means children’s parliament, they have a president,vice president and are divided into 4 departments i.e. education, health, social, cultural. 
They also shared that each leader is given responsibilities.


They had activities like essay, Drawing, painting, singing competition etc. and Social & health awareness programs like environment, cleanliness, MMRDA rally.
They also had Exposure visit to police station & Shanti data ashram. They also put up 9 days novena stall.

On every Thursday regular meetings were held.Through this Balsansad they gained self-confidence and learnt leadership, saving, helping & respecting elders in the family.

The teachers appreciated them for all the activities done through Balsansad. They expressed that they will motivate other children.

The meeting ended with a vote of thanks.

Training of Trainers (TOT) for DI CCO's staff at Muktisagar Prabodhan kendra, Uttan

On 23rd & 24th August 2016 CSA organized Training of Trainers (TOT) for DI CCO's staff at Muktisagar Prabodhan kendra, Uttan. The staff from DI CCOs participated. Mr. Melvin Pangya and Dayanand Patil conducted the training programme.

The objectives of Two day training:
1.       Strengthening of SHG’s
2.       Capacity building
3.       Implementation
4.       Plan of action

He spoke on the concept of SHG, Social analysis, how to conduct the meetings, processes, rules about taking loan, roles and the responsibilities. He made sessions more simple and easy through various short stories and group activities. The methods of training were discussion through games, picture showing, practicals, presenting small skits etc. It made the participants understand in a simple and effective manner. There was a good response from the participants.

Participants shared their views and understandings about the groups. They also shared their experiences of handling the groups. They also asked the questions related to it which were answered by the resource person. There was active participation from the group.

The learnings:
1.   How to conduct session during the meeting by using the different methods.
2.   Various techniques of dealing with group dynamics.
3.   Got confidence to implement into practice for better response and functioning of SHG’S.
4.    Got an idea about social analysis.
5.    Rules and regulations of forming the groups.
6.    How to conduct effective meetings.
7. 



  

The participants had a very interactive and fruitful discussion during the two day programme.  In the meeting CCO staff planned to conduct sessions for SHG's leader, core  during the meetings.

Follow up meeting with Core Committee Members at Dongri on 22/8/16

On 22nd August 2016, a meeting of Core committee members along CCO Staff was held at Belen Mauli School, Dongri . About 16 Core committee members with CCO Staff were present. The Topic was orientation of the new project and training on problem solving techniques. The resource person was Mr. Dayanand Patil.

Meeting begun with short prayer led by Mr. Christopher Fernandez, there by Ms Manisha Kharjia welcomed all present members and read the minutes of previous meeting. 

Then Mr. Dayanand explained the third year project in detail. He spoke on the complexity of the issues, urgency, and target group. He also stressed on the role & responsibilities of core committee. He also suggested  to form sub- committee for this year’s new project.

During the meeting issues of the last meetings were discussed. Then following three issues were prioritised:
1.       Cleanliness & health
2.       Transportation facility
3.       Water scarcity during summer season

All the member’s agreed to the issues prioritised and formed themselves into three different sub- committees according to their area.



 Each committee took up the issue and decided to meet in their respective areas & work on it.

The meeting ended with a vote of Thanks.

Domestic workers meeting on 21/8/16 at Dongri.

On 21-8-2016 Prerna Seva Kendra,Dongri had Domestic worker meeting. There were 42 particpants. Fr. Peter -CCO director, Mr. Dayanand Patil, Ms Manisha & Ms Rasika interacted with the workers.


In the meeting the workers openly shared about issues related to their work.  They expressed  a need of having health checkup camps.

Core Committee and CCO Staff meeting held on 18/8/16 at Gorai

A Meeting was held on the 18th of August 2016 at Gorai Church Hall. 12 core committee members along with the CCO staff were present. The topic was on orientation of the new project and the resource person was Mr. Dayanand Patil.
The Meeting began with short prayer led by Mrs. Natal. Sr. Christel welcomed Mr. Dayanand & all core committee members. Mr. Dayanand explained the third year of the project in detail, He stressed on the role & responsibilities of core committee. He suggested that sub- committees could be formed this year for the new project.
 Sr. Christel then explained to them that many issues were discussed during PRA and 4 issues were prioritized which were then again discussed with the core committee members. Issues taken were 1) Water 2) Ration 3) Health. All agreed that three sub-committees be formed with 4 members each and such sub-committees were formed.



Mr. Dayanand explained that to handle the issues each sub-committee would be given training on problem solving techniques. He also mentioned that each issue will take a long process & the sub-committee would do the follow up of the problem. It was an open discussion in which all agreed to the suggestions.
Then Ms. Nasim  gave a detailed information about two interactive meetings of the Balsansad. A date for the next meeting was fixed. The next meeting would be on 1st September 2016.

DI Project Plan Preparation meeting on 10/8/16 at Uttan

On 10-8-2016 there  was a meeting held of Centre for Social Action and  DI CCO staff at Muktisagar Prabhodan Hall, Uttan.

This was the third year of the DI project (32016-17) so a plan preparation meeting was held. The project plan was explained  Mr. Cletus Zuzarte- CSA Program coordinator &  Mr. Dayanand Patil- CSA DI coordinator.

All staff actively participated in the discussion. Mr Cletus and Dayanand helped the DI CCO staff to develop the time frame and finalised it.

Fr. Mario Director CSA was also present for the meeting

Financial Literacy session for Kishories At Uttan on 9/8/16

On 9th August 2016 a session was organised on Financial Literacy 

for Kishories at Uttan. Mr. Dayanand Patil, Sr. Martha and Ms. Rasika were the resource persons from CSA (Centre for Social Action). There were total 33 Kishories present for the session. The session began by sr. Martha dividing them into 3 groups of 11 in each group. She gave them four questions to discuss:

1. What is saving?

2. Importance of saving?

3. Uses of saving

4. Means of saving.

Each group presented according to their understanding and partially they were right.

Then Ms. Rasika spoke on Nationalised and private banks and the 

difference between them. She also spoke about post office, RD, 

FD, saving account and time deposit.

It was informative and women learnt the basic knowledge of saving and bank systems.

Mr. Dayanand spoke on different schemes, policies and the inssurance available in the banks.

·         SBI Wealth builder.
·         SBI life insurance
·         SBI general insurance
·         Money Back policy
·         Saral swadhan scheme

Many questions relating to it were raised by them and were
 answered. 
They realised the importance of savings, different scheme and insurance. 
Some of them there itself decided to open the account in the bank and to do the saving.

PRA follow up meeting with core committee At Uttan on 6/8/16

A  PRA follow up meeting was organised with core committee members on 6th August 2016. There were total 14 members present for the meeting. Mr. Dayanand conducted a group discussion during which many issues were raised.  They were as follows:
1.       Dumping ground
2.       MMRDA
3.       Addiction (Alcohol)
4.       Cleanliness
5.       Diseases (Health)
6.       Water problem
7.       Lack of Higher education  - Career guidance
8.       Lack of hospitals with all the facilities
9.       Robbery of sand by outsiders from the seashore
10.   Selling of local land to other  people
11.   Reduce of fish ( Lack of good catch)
12.   Entrepreneurship development program
13.    Abortion
14.   Too much and unnecessary use of mobile
15.   Child sexual abuse
16.   Unemployment
17.   Mismanagement of waste

Among all these problems the group decided to work on three main issues like
·         Addiction (Alcohol)
·         Diseases (Health)
·         Lack of Higher education  - Career guidance
Date for another meeting was fixed and the group decided to come up with an action plan during that meeting.

Farmers Follow Up Meeting In Collaboration with Krushi Vidhnyan Kendra (KVK) At Tarodi Zone

On 5th August 2016 Prerna Seva Kendra, Dongri had organised farmers follow up meeting at Tarodi Sabhagruha at 11.00 am.  There were about 15 farmers who attended the meeting.
    Prof. Uttam Sahane, Dr. Rupali Deshmukh, Prof. Ashok Bhoir-    the team of Krushi Vidhyan Kendra from Koshbad, Dahanu were the resource persons.
*      Prof. Ashok Bhoir – explained the soil and water testing report of following farmers:
1.       Mr Pedru Miranda
2.       Mr Alfred Nunes
3.       Mr Simon Mendonsa
4.       Mr. Oscar Dabre
5.       Mr .Lesalie Borges
6.       Mr Frankie Dalmet
7.       Mr Raymond Borges
8.       Mr Sanjyav Nunes
Farmer’s also got the idea about their soil and water status.

*      Prof Uttam Sahane talked about various types of techniques to prevent the rice crops, guards, cucumber etc from different types of disease like dorsalis.

 Prof Rupali Deshmukh talked about cultivating RED RICE – she informed that red rice is helpful for many diseases like diabetics because it contains high iron.  Seeds are available at Navsari, Gujarat and also in KVK. It will also helpful f



or generating high rate of income for farmers.

 Then the team of KVK had field Visit at Mr Raymond Nunes (farmer’s) field of rice & guard.

 The farmers of Mr Edwin Nunes and Mrs Anjela Nunes showed their compost manure pit which was examined by resource persons and suggested tips to them on how to make use of it during the month of September & October.

Through this interactive meeting farmers also got idea about exhibition of rice festivals.

There was good response and active participation from farmers.

CORE COMMITTEE MEETING AT PRERNA SEVA KENDRA, DONGRI ON 2/8/2016

Core committee meeting was held on 2nd August 2016 in Belen Mauli School, Dongri at 4.00 p.m. This meeting was a follow up of the PRA meeting. There were about 14 members who attended the meeting. It was animated by Sr Martha Manorkar.
The members had collected information from the PRA tools formats given to them. Ms Monica Gharshi & Ms Stivina Mendonsa shared the information on SEASONALITY which was gathered by them from Palkhadi zone. Then we discussed about the problems faced by them in their respective villages as well as parish at large. The following problems were brought forth by the members.
1.       No  English Medium Primary  School in Dongri Village
2.       Career guidance seminars for the youth
3.        Lack of Health Facility at village level - Primary Health     Centre
4.        Lack of Transportation Facility
5.       Lack of Recreational Facilities like gardens, hall etc
6.        Lack of Occupational opportunities - Markets
7.       Gavthan Issue
8.       Issue Of Cleanliness- Toilets, solid waste management
9.        Water Management
10.   Celebration Of Public Festivals/ occasions  – reducing the expenses
11.   Alcoholism Issue 
12.    Lack of Government Schemes
13.   Farmer’s Issue- Management of Salty Water at Tarodi Area.

From the above issues the following issues were given priority.
1.       Lack of Transportation Facility
2.       Accessing Health Facility at village level - Primary Health Centre
3.       Issue Of Cleanliness- Toilets, solid waste management
4.       Career Guidance Seminars For the Youth
5.       Farmer’s Issue- Management Of Salty Water At Tarodi Area

There was active participation and interaction from the members.
