Bal Sansad Children from Chowk - Exposure to Police Station & Hospital 10-5-16

On the 10th of May, Sahayog Samaj Kendra, the Chowk CCO Balsansad children were taken on an Exposure Visit to two locations - A Police Station and a Government Hospital. 



The CCO Staff Sr. Shwetha and Ms. Suvidha took a group of 58 Bal Sansad children to the Police Station at Dongri. The Police Officers - Mr. Abhijit Thakur, Mr. Mahale, Mr. Galande, Ms. Palve and Ms. Chile welcomed the children. 

The went on to share various experiences with the children on their work and how they actually chose this profession. As the children put questions to them they also shared about their education and the training they underwent to become Police Officers. 

They shared the various responsibilities that they held in the Police Station like the 'Police Verification Process' for obtaining an Indian Passport, Criminal Investigation into various kinds of cases, the different kinds of weapons that they use like Pistols and Rifles. They also displayed different types of weapons that were used by criminals. 

They also shared about the various types of communication instruments like the mobile phone, wireless sets etc especially to connect to various offices and people in cases of accidents and the fishermen who are out at sea. 

The children learnt a lot about the functioning of the Police Station and were really happy to experience this for themselves as it broke down all the various fears that they had about the Police. 

The children then proceeded to the Government Hospital at Uttan where the Resident Doctors and Nurses Ms. Farmas, Mr. Yogesh Shinde, Ms. Kalpana and Ms. Chikal Khadi gave them information on the various kinds of illness cases that were often treated like HIV AIDs, TB, Leprosy and various kinds of fever. They went on to explain how early detection of the sickness at the early stage would ensure that cure would be certain and quick. After all "Prevention is better than Cure". 

The Children from the Balsansads went back grateful and appreciative for all that they had learnt just in the span of one day. One of them even said, "Truly, our holidays has been a good learning experience through such programmes organized for us Balsansad children".
